Four years ago, I was still a high school baby trying to explore the world of soon to be professionals. I was not sure of where I was, of what is ahead of me. All I know is I’m gonna study and earn a degree. Something that my parents and I can be proud of. Though Sociology was my first choice, I remained afraid of this shift in my life. I remember those times when I thought of the course I would take, by just reading the course description, I felt and I know that it was the right choice. The word itself,S-O-C-I-O-L-O-G-Y have somethings special in it that only few dare to appreciate and understand.
“Bakit Socio? Madami pa naman iba.”“Madali lang yan.”“Walang pera diyan.”
Some phrases I always hear whenever I was asked about about my course. See, only few appreciates. Only few dares to understand. It’s heartbreaking but I couldn’t care less. I do not need to be in an in-demand course to make my parents proud. I do not need high salaries so people will look up to me. All I need is what I have right now. Sociology gave me more than what I’ve expected. I felt like I was not at school but I am HOME. Nothing beats that.
I’ve learned so much not just in the academic sense but in life itself. Everything under the sun. But above all, I wouldn’t learn anything without the people I’m with in my journey through a very fruitful Sociology. I like it more in Filipino, Tungo sa isang makabuluhang sosyolohiya. I want to thank each of them (which is the very purpose of this blog) for everything.
My Family. Mama, Papa, Ate Flo, Ate Precious and Sunburn. I thank you for all the happiness and sacrifices that we faced together. For all your support emotionally, mentally, financially and most of all spiritually. Thank you for always looking after my needs. For loving me unconditionally. I am forever indebted.
My Sociology Professors. To Ma’am Gamo, Ma’am Peppin, Sir Tobias, Sir Doma, Sir Batoon, Ka Puroy and of course Sir Batan. Being your student was and will forever be one of the graces I’ve received from the Lord. Thank you for being our mentor, second mother/father and for being our friend. I will never forget your stories and the lessons we can get from it. You are all the very best example why teachers are called the backbone of our society. Thank you Ma’am/Sir.
To my brothers and sisters by heart: my 4 Sociology family
Tinay-You are one of the most beautiful persons I know, inside and out. Thank you for always listening to me about everything. You know how to make me happy. You are my conscience, Tinay. You keep me on track when my “maldita” attitude comes in. Always remember, I always look up to you not just because you are a lot taller than I am.
Letlet-You know that I love you. I may meet a lot of friends now or in the future but you as my bestfriend will always be in my heart and mind.
Rosechel-You are the most amazing person I know aside from my Mama. I will never get tired of chatting, laughing and eating with you kahit maging obese na tayo. Haha! ;) I hate my surname kasi since elem lagi ako nasa unahan but being your seatmate makes it so worth it. I am looking forward to make more memories with you even until our very last breath. :)
Aika- I will always be here for you no matter what. You’re a firework. Heehee! You have the gift of brightening up people’s life even in their darkest days. I know it because you did it to me many times. Thank you!
Dyvi- Not all people are given the chance to have a friend as faithful, supportive, helpful and loving as you are. I/We are lucky and grateful because I/we have you. I will never be surprised if one day I’ll just hear that Dyvi Malicse is the best teacher one could ever have. I love you Dyvi. Do I need to say more? :)
Andrew-I remember that day when you texted me “Ano ang gagawin mo pag na inlove ka sa isang kaibigan?” and then I replied (nakalimutan ko na kung ano yung reply ko). But that was the start of a friendship I never ever wanted to lose.
Reynolph- They say laughter is the best medicine but laughing with you is the best therapy. I will never forget that day when you let me feel what its like to have a boyfriend. Hahaha! Tapos naiilang ako tapos tinatawanan mo ko kasi baka naiinlove na ako sayo. Haha! Thank you for being so sweet and for that therapeutic smile and laugh you always give me. I’ll miss you bebe! :)

And that’s it.
They are the reason why it is so hard to leave college life. I gained not just friends but family members.
Congratulations to us! We finally made it. :) I remember our first day in room 216. Some are shorter, fatter, thinner, looks older. :) We were excited, clueless, innocent and most of all, we were still young back then. True enough, time flies so fast. I’ll miss you so much my dear friends! I love you from your toes to your face. :) This is not good bye. I know we’ll see each other again. :)
